Tried the cord on 3 other systems 2 desktops, 1 laptop with other USB devices to verify and yes, it was the cord. I had to disable it at startup from MSConfig. Just use Windows Zero-Config.

Cons: I'm not sure if there is a driver conflict on my machine, but every time I turn on the computer, I have to unplug and then plug the adapter back in for the computer to recognize the adapter.
