The numbers on the cards designate the order in which they leave the trial room to prepare for the death match, with 1 leaving first and 3 leaving last. After leaving the room, the protagonist decides to find a place to hide in order to survey the situation.

His hiding place ends up being in the cabinet that Osamu's body was hidden in the third round. A voice calls out for the second person to leave the room, and the protagonist hears footsteps in the corridor and someone entering the library.

While the mystery person in the room is walking around in the library, the third person is told to leave the trial room. Soon after the mystery person in the room is near the cabinet the protagonist is hiding in, Rintarou shows up to the library and reveals the mystery person to be Kou. Unable to see what's going on, the protagonist overhears them talking about the truth of The Wolf Game.

Rintarou suspects that Kou's realized the truth, and Kou states that it has to do with the case from five years ago, but that he has no connection to it.

Rintarou says that he is connected to it and will reveal the truth to him. The next moment, the protagonist hears a gunshot go off and footsteps leaving the room.

Once he's out of hiding, he sees Kou's body covered in blood on the floor. The protagonist decides it would be more beneficial to strike first and goes to find Rintarou. Hearing a noise from the floor above, the protagonist goes to investigate, and the noise leads him to the garden room.

No one is inside, but he turns around to find Rintarou behind him and subsequently has a bullet graze his leg. Dashing out of the room, he finds himself hiding in the isolation cell room waiting for Rintarou to show up. Rintarou appears not too long after, having followed the trail of blood left behind by the protagonist's bleeding leg. When Rintarou approaches a batch of gas cylinders in the room, the protagonist shoots at them and causes them to explode, knocking Rintarou to the ground.

In his hesitation, Rintarou gets up and questions him on whether he's realized the truth about The Wolf Game and figured out the points of commonality between the participants. He then confirms that it has to do with a murder case five years prior in which a man named Yuuya was the culprit. It's revealed that the protagonist was at the scene of the crime when it happened, and that Rintarou's parents were the ones killed on the train in that case.

He explains that The Wolf Game is his revenge against the people that were responsible for his parents' deaths, and goes on to describe the part everyone played leading up to the present. Rintarou presents the protagonist with a choice, asking him if he plans to run away again like he's done so many times before and if he'll shoot him. The protagonist has a mental dilemma about what the right decision to make is, and in the first play of the story, the player will be presented with only one option to shoot Rintarou.

A gunshot goes off, and the protagonist realizes that there's a sudden intense pain in his abdomen and that he's been shot by someone. In front of him, Rintarou is crying and says that it's a shame the protagonist hasn't changed. The other mysterious person that shot the protagonist speaks, and he recognizes their voice. He asks if they never planned to let anyone leave, and it's revealed that it was possible from the start for everyone to have survived.

He goes on to say that The Wolf Game wasn't just a revenge plot, but a test for all of the participants. As the protagonist is coming to a conclusion about the purpose of The Wolf Game, he loses consciousness.

Once the player has selected not to shoot Rintarou, the protagonist states that he's sick of running away all the time and saving himself before other people. He goes on to say that if the participants in The Wolf Game had taken a moment to think about someone other than themselves, things likely would've turned out differently, and Rintarou's family might never have died. During the course of The Wolf Game, all of the participants showed that they were willing to sacrifice other people to save themselves, and the protagonist believes that that's what the game was meant to convey to them.

A door opens from behind him and the mysterious person is revealed to be Misaki, who explains that she was also one of the children that survived the incident and that she and Rintarou are siblings. They tell the protagonist that he's successfully met the conditions for escape, and explain that the condition for leaving was to be willing to give up one's own life for the sake of helping someone else.

In choosing to spare Rintarou, the protagonist would be endangering himself to save another person. The siblings tell the protagonist to live on with the same courage it took to make that decision once he's escaped, and the protagonist asks them how they plan to live their lives from that point forward.

He suggests that they should take their experiences and also summon the courage to move on with their life. Rintarou, in a fit of rage, readies his pistol and fires a shot at the protagonist, but Misaki jumps in the way and is shot instead.

As she's dying, she tells Rintarou that she wants him to be able to move on with his life. Rintarou embraces her and tells the protagonist to leave. As he exits the building into the surrounding forest area, the building goes up in flames behind him. The scene fades as the protagonist stares back at the burning building.
